Foreign Language Bingo Card Maker

Foreign Language Bingo Card Maker

Bingo is an activity ideal for foreign language classes. This is because it is simple to learn, highly flexible, and, particularly importantly, does not require the purchase of expensive specialist materials.

When playing bingo in foreign language classes, the game should be conducted in the foreign language. This is because playing in the foreign language can be an excellent educational challenge in and of itself.

As far as the game is concerned, each student is provided with a bingo card, and the game is played in the usual fashion with the teacher acting as bingo caller. However one crucial difference from the normal game is that the bingo cards are printed containing words and phrases rather than the usual numbers. Since the words will of course all be in the foreign language, they are supposed to assist students in improving their knowledge of the foreign language.

Other variations of foreign language bingo include versions where the bingo calls are made in English, and students must look for matching foreign language items, or using cards containing English words and phrases and making the the bingo calls in the foreign language, or mixing English and the foreign language for both the calls and bingo cards.

Of course, the question that foreign language teachers will be left with is how to print custom bingo cards. Fortunately, this is straightforward and cheap. You simply need to download some bingo card maker software, on to your PC, and then you can prepare customized bingo cards with the absolute minimum of effort. You might be pleasantly surprised at how well the game of bingo can work in your classes – why not give it a try?

How to Speak a Foreign Language Online

木曜日, 4月 7th, 2011

How to Speak a Foreign Language Online

Learning to speak a foreign language is a lot of fun, especially if you can interact with people of that language on a regular basis. For a lot of people though, this isn’t an option. Many do learn (or at least attend a foreign language class) at school, but the majority do seem to struggle to pick it up, either because of lack of interest or more usually  just to use the lesson as an excuse to relax and not bother. It’s only later in life that we sometimes regret our school day actions and find out how useful it would have been to learn. We are then forced to look at alternative ways to learn that language. But the good news is that there are plenty of ways on how to speak Spanish online.

Here are 5 quick tips that can help you can learn another language online:

1. Search for an ebook and begin reading about and understanding the basics of the language – grammar, basic vocabluary, verbs etc. It’s always good to understand and get an explanation of the logic of the language.

2. There are plenty of online courses that you can participate in. These are good because most have a lot of interaction and forums where you can get help and assistance.

3. There is a plethora of software, such as the Rosetta Stone that are available online. These tend to be very workable as you can study anywhere, especially if you have a laptop. There are plenty of other options too.

4. Forums. If you want to test it out, there are plenty of foreign language forums out there where you can get help and more tips from. Just do a search in google.

5. You can specifically seek out speakers of that particular language online (for example using friendship sites, online dating, etc etc). Form a relationship with someone (not necessarily romantic) and perhaps learn off of them and at the same time teach or help them improve their English.

However, the most effective way of learning any language is by immersing yourself in it and continuing to practise it – but if you can find a native speaker online, your chances of success are going to be a whole lot better.

Earn Up To 12 Foreign Language Credit with CLEP

Earn Up To 12 Foreign Language Credit with CLEP

Most college degree plans require a heavy dose of foreign language. Students become bogged down for semesters on end, struggling to earn those hours of foreign language credit.

But there’s an easier way! The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) offers 33 exams in a variety of subjects, including foreign language. The CLEP program offers 6 foreign language exams: French 1 and 2, Spanish 1 and 2, and German 1 and 2. Passing these CLEP foreign language exams earns the student tons of college credit.

For instance, by passing both Level 1 and 2 of the Spanish CLEP test, the student can earn up to 12 hours of college credit. And there are nearly 3,000 colleges that accept CLEP credit for their foreign language requirements. A student can determine whether her particular college accepts CLEP credit by clicking on the “CLEP college search” link on the CollegeBoard’s website (http://www.collegeboard.com/clep).

When it comes to meeting foreign language requirements, CLEP saves not only time; it saves a ton of money too. That’s because each CLEP test costs only . Tuition for the equivalent course at a college or university would cost much more. And that’s not even counting the cost of books. The required books for college courses can set a student back hundreds of dollars. With CLEP, there are no required books. The student studies at his own pace, with whatever materials he chooses, in whatever manner he wants.

Of course, when it comes to foreign language, many students won’t have to study at all in order to pass a CLEP exams. These foreign languages are the native tongues of many students or they have grown up in bilingual homes, and they possess equal proficiency in both English and a foreign language. What a silly waste of time for such students to sit through hours of foreign language class in order to meet a degree requirement! A bilingual student should be able to pass a CLEP foreign language exam with ease.

On the other hand, many students who are only fluent in English will need to put in many hours of foreign language studying in order to pass a CLEP exam. Students who need to brush up on their foreign language knowledge have the option to study alone, study with a group, or study with the help of a test-prep program. Both brick-and-mortar as well as online CLEP prep programs specialize in helping students study for CLEP exams.

So, if you need foreign language credit for your degree plan (and who doesn’t?), go to the CollegeBoard’s website and check out the descriptions for their foreign language CLEP exams. Make sure that your college accepts CLEP credit, and then register for the test of your choice. Then, start studying! After you’ve earned a dozen or so hours of foreign language credit in a short amount of time, you’ll be glad that you took those CLEP exams. CLEP foreign language exams can propel you much closer to your goal of earning a college degree.

Taking a CLEP exams and CLEP tests shows colleges that a student is committed to getting a valuable education and is coming to the school prepared and ready to learn.
